So I haven't been able to really practice lately. So I have a DC and ST and figured...well, I already know how to play. So why not experiment and try to find something useful to add since I don't have comp anyway to really practice it. So far, everytime I have sat down to play I am finding new shit. Not necessarily new shit that will change anything(not saying it won't either), but definately shit I didn't know. Back in the day I never had a training mode and couldn't spend much time on ST at that point in my life...I already knew how to win and I just looked at obvious gameplay changes and learned what was necessary to win at the time. But after a few days it's become obvious that regardless of what I may have forgotten, there is a TON of shit I didn't know. I first found some wierd shit with Vega. Then the next two times I experimented with this new shit I improved upon it. It was better than I had expected it to be. Then today I sit down and said screw it...why not mess with Rog and give Vega a break. And BOOM, new shit! The Rog shit isn't necessarily game changing but is definately gonna be interesting when I explain it(stop reading if you think I'm gonna explain it now, I'm not). And I have a feeling that once I experiment with this a bit it will turn out better too. Sure I could be doing that right now...but I can't just sit at a game for too long without an opponent, heheh. But my theories have been correct almost everytime I check on something. Back in the day these were MY characters. I knew all there was to know about them in competition...so I thought. I always felt I hadn't broken ST down like HF but if there was more to find I figured someone would've found it and I would hear about it. And it's clear that never happened. We know a lot but I'm willing to bet that there is plenty of stuff left in ST that we just don't know. I believe the strategies out now are solid but...something new here or there changes matches. So if you like ST. If you plan on playing it at B5, don't be under the assumption that the ol skool players know it all. Playing and knowing are 2 different things. Even if you play well enough to beat everyone you know there is still probably something that would help you in tournies that no one has seen. I'm being gay and saving that shit for B5 like a pussy, but I can't practice really at the moment so it would just be lame to give out my shit and have other ppl doing my shit at B5 claiming they already knew it. And innovation is important to me. I feel with enough practice anyone can be good. So to me, innovation is what sets you apart. Most players need to wait until someone innovates so they can use it. And I've innovated so much shit on ol skool that is common today and I hate knowing some dude don't realize where dudes got that shit. It's a pride thing. Just like BAS is gonna trip when someone uses his shiet against him. At least we know where it came from. So my being gay is simply to make sure ppl know where the shit they will use came from...so if that's gay...so what. Point is these were MY characters that I thought I knew and compared to anyone else I probably did. But I really didn't KNOW them like I thought I did and chances are you guys don't know your characters like you thought you did. There's plenty left in ST we didn't know unless I happen to stumble on the last 3 things that no one knew about and it just happened to be my characters. Practicing with comp is good...but take some time to theorize and figure new shit out. If you don't have comp where you're at it could really make practicing alone more beneficial and even fun=) Cuz right now I have to look at this like a new game. Even if it doesn't outright change a match it could shake it up a bit. And if someone hasn't seen it it could win you matches, maybe even cause an upset. So...in respect for ST...this game has lasted longer than any other SF in the heart of the community and it STILL isn't done being a game full of surprises imo. And in case you're wondering this stuff has been checked on the arcade board so the DC is a reliable port as far as I can see. I woulda thought the game dry after we'd seen the japanese play as well. Makes me wonder about every game again. Might wanna try and find something new on whatever game you play, you might stumble onto something really cool or fun. K...done babbling...I just think I have a rekindled love for ST now...if only I had it at my arcade, heheh. What works on paper.......ya know? heheh Apoc. Saving it for B5 isnt gay, thats what you are soposed to do. Hopefully, the things you are finding out help you even more. You'll probably have a great chance of winning, or ranking in top 5 at least. Good luck to you. I found some wack 3rd Strike shit in about 5 min of playing Ryu the other day. (I don't even play the damn game and found cool stuff) so yeah play around in training mode for a few hours and you'll prolly figure stuff out in any game you play.
